Houdini rendering best practices –

If you have prepared and uploaded your Houdini project for rendering you are ready to submit your job. To do so, please navigate to the Render tab on the Dashboard page and follow the steps below. If you would like some more detail the Render tab fields please view our Submitting a job article.

Preparing Houdini Scene for Upload

Please note to set your output settings for frames rendered in the output driver configured within your .hip file! This should ideally point output to a folder in your .zip file uploaded.

When submitting a job you’ll enter the output driver in the ‘Comp Name’ field as it shows in Houdini. Some examples are /out/arnold1 /out/mantra_ipr

Steps to submit a Houdini job for rendering

  1. Enter a job name
  2. Select the project folder containing your hip file
  3. Select your scene file
  4. Select your version of Houdini and Renderer
  5. In the Comp Name field enter the output driver (Ex. /out/mantra_ipr)
  6. Enter your frame range to render
