How To Reset Render Settings In Blender

There are times when the option to reset render settings comes in extremely handy for when you’ve made changes which have really impacted on your renders and you just want to start again with the default settings.

How to Reset Render Settings in Blender

Change to a Different Rendering Engine

This is what I used to reset render settings, switch to a different engine if you aren’t using it already temporarily and then switch back. It resets all the engine specific settings to their defaults.

Navigate to Render Properties and select a new engine, then change it back to the original engine.

Manually Adjust Settings: If you do not wish to reset everything, settings can be adjusted manually. For example:

Samples: 128 (default for Cycles).

Change the Tile Size to 256×256 so it can use GPU to render and 16×16 if you prefers CPU rendering.

Create a New Blender File: If you want to completely reset all settings, make a new Blender file:

Go to File > New > General. That will create a new scene with all default setup, you can now import your old model into the new project.

Reset Specific Settings: If you need to you can also reset individual settings by right clicking any value in the Render Properties tab and selecting Reset to Default Value. This is useful if you only need to revert a limited number of settings.

These steps can be followed to reset your Blender render settings back to the factory defaults.
