In Maya you render an animation by going through all the 3D scenes that makeup your video sequence and you render each still image called frame. Maya comes with fully-fledged rendering tools which bring high quality results for professional and personal use along with the Arnold engine.
How To Render An Animation in Maya
Set Up the Scene
Control all models, lights and cameras in your scene Animate objects and cameras using keyframes, if required as well.
Select the Rendering Engine
Maya comes with Arnold as the renderer, one of the best physical renderers out there. Vote: Arnold for photorealistic animations Alternatively, if you do not need high quality and speed in rendering, use the Maya Software instead.
Configure Render Settings
With the Render Settings open, set the Frame Range to correspond with your animation. Write Output (png, exr, avi) and resolution
Here you can change the Arnold Sampling Settings to control noise and quality. The Quality will be better but they are affecting the Render Time.
Render the Animation
Render > Render Sequence renders every frame from 0 to last of the range you set, and save all in the output directory.
Create a preview of your animation using Maya’s Playblast feature, and view it after rendering.
Steps to Render Animation Quickly
GPU rendering: If available in your version of Arnold, you are able to change the rendering to GPU and increase the speed of render on each frame.
In our example tusimple, for draft renders (eg deformation) lower sample rates and for final output larger sample rates.
With those steps, there you have it: A streamlined way to export top-quality animations in Maya.
