When exporting your work for presentation or sharing, you will find yourself converting a Maya animation into an MP4 file at some point. Maya doesn’t export as MP4 directly, but you can get image sequence and change them from to MP4 using any free conversion app.
How to Convert Maya Animation To MP4 Format
Render the Animation: Begin by outputting your animation as a series of images. Ensure high-quality with formats like PNG or EXR.
In Render Settings, settings for frame range, resolution and output directory are added.
Compile the Image Sequence: Then, once you have the final rendering finished, export it as an image sequence and import that into a video editing tool or post-processing software like Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve ( there is also open-source Blender’s own Video Sequencer).
Bring each of your images as a single frame into the video editor
Export as MP4: After you have imported the image sequence, export it as an MP4 file in your editor. Tweak resolution, Frame Rate and Compression settings according to your project.
This lets you determine the quality of your animation entirely and is more adaptable in post-production.
