Eevee – A new real-time render engine in Blender that’s designed to deliver lifelike previews at a fraction of the computational load of ray tracing. Great for animations or the early stages of iterative design when you need a fast rendering process.
Key Features of Eevee
Real-Time Rendering
Cycles are an unbiased physical renderer, Eevee is a rasteriser. Which makes it ideal for more time-sensitive projects, where photo-realism isn’t a priority.
Screen-Space Reflections
Mirror-like surfaces (such as mirrors or water) are simulated by screen-space reflections (SSR), which Eevee supports. Not quite as accurate as ray-traced reflections, but also way faster and still a convincing result.
Ambient Occlusion
Ambient occlusion, a feature of Eevee which imitates how light would distribute in corners and crevices to make the scene appear with more depth and realism.
Volumetrics
Eevee can manage volumetric effects like fog, smoke and light shafts real-time as well.
When to Use Eevee
In cases projects with high render times, such as animations, previews or very stylized. Eevee. Although it lacks the realistic quality of Cycles, its speed and flexibility make it a great choice for much use.
