Blender is an open-source 3D modeling program with a range of versatility that can create some complex models, be it characters, environment art or even assets for 3D printing.
How To Model In Blender For Beginners
Start with Basic Shapes
Start with a primitive model a the cube or sphere by pressing Shift + A and selecting Mesh.
These simple shapes are referred to as the primary forms on which more complicated models are constructed.
Use Edit Mode
Scroll Back upwards to press tab to toggle object mode and edit mode. You can move any vertex, edge or face in the object to reshape it in Edit Mode.
Detail and refine the shape with tools like Extrude (E), Loop Cut (Ctrl + R), Bevel (Ctrl + B), etc.
Subdivision and Sculpting
Dividing the mesh to more polygons would allow better surfaces, which i do by using subdivision surface modifiers.
Apply Textures and Materials
After completing your model, give it color and detail with materials and textures. You can do this in the Shading workspace, and where you use that to make complex material setups with nodes.
Tips for Efficient Modeling
Reference Images: Bring in reference images to get an idea of how you should model things so it is proportional and detailed right.
Mesh Clean: Do not over-poly your models, and always try to keep clean geometry with nice edges for UV Mapping and easy rigging.
Many people learn how to use Blender for 3D modeling due to its powerful toolset, regardless of whether you are creating small things or working on complex scenes.
