Blender\u2019s Light Linking is a powerful feature which allows you to control which objects in a scene are affected by light sources. This provides you with additional freedom, especially when designing intricate lighting configurations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using Light Linking in Blender<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enable Light Linking:<\/strong> While Blender does not yet have light linking built directly into it, you can fake that by using Light Groups in the Shader Editor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Light Groups: <\/strong>This feature allows you to assign different objects and lights to different light groups, controlling how they communicate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assign Lights to Groups:<\/strong> In Shader Editor \u2014 Add Light Path and assign the light types to utilize a Mix Shader to control how much the light affects specific objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep Shadows and Reflections in Check:<\/strong> Shader Nodes can also help you dial in how shadows and reflections are computed for individual objects. Some of the objects may need to receive light without casting a shadow, for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By using light linking, you gain greater control over where and how your lights affect objects in a scene, enabling more sophisticated lighting that adds realism to scenes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
