Blender can be an interesting support in game development to a powerful piece of software. Blender (3D Modeling) although not considered an industry standard like Maya or 3ds Max, is a good free alternative for game developers that wish to do some of their own 3d modeling\/texturing\/rigging\/animations and especially indie creators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3D Modeling and Sculpting:<\/strong> There’s a good variety of customizable modeling tools in Blender which makes it easy to use for games character\/ props\/environment modeling. It also has sculpting tools and the ability to do ZBrush like character creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Texture and Materials:<\/strong> With PBR (Physically Based Rendering) being one of the textures systems that Blender supports, users can create realistic materials and export them to well known game engines: Unity3D and Unreal Engine. This makes sure that assets you create in Blender look the same in-game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rigging and Animation:<\/strong> Blender has advanced rigging and animation tools, so developers create character rigs, animate them and export those animations into a game engine. Inverse and Forward Kinematics: this is very cool feature for Blender because you know that Blenders strong point is animation (especially character) so having IK\/FK switch will make it much easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exporting for Game Engines:<\/strong> Blender is fantastic; it makes modeling and animation quite easy, and you can export models in a format that many game engines understand, like FBX (base model) and OBJ. With a separate set of dedicated add-ons to help you export assets to Unity and Unreal Engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
